The funeral service for a local soldier killed Oct. 30 in Afghanistan will be held at noon Wednesday at Porterville Church of the Nazarene.
U.S. Army Specialist Brett W. Land was fatally wounded by an improvised explosive device, 
according to a Department of Defense news release. Land was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division
